Two-Step Thoughts
January 13, 2023War
War, a force of destruction
Leaves devastation in its wake
Homes and hearts torn asunder
Families torn apart, their fate
Brother against brother, fighting
For ideals, for land, for power
But in the end, what is left standing
But ruins, and the fallen flowers
The physical scars may heal
But the mental wounds run deep
Memories of loss and pain, always a part
Of the soldiers who were forced to sleep
In the fields, in the mud, in the blood
Dreaming of a future free from war
But for some, that dream is forever lost
Lost in the destruction, forevermore
From cities to the countryside
The horrors of war are spread
Entire nations torn asunder
Their histories and cultures, dead
Once thriving communities
Now reduced to rubble and dust
Their people scattered and broken
Their future and hope, a must
But the damage doesn't end there
As the ripples of war are felt far and wide
Other nations, caught in the crossfire
Their own peace and prosperity, denied
So let us remember the cost
Of the wars fought, past and present
And strive for a world that is lost
In the devastation of violence and dissent
