Echoes of the Iron Wheel

Dead Birds
December 30, 2024Tender Eyes
As time slips by, it wears the soul,
Turns hearts to stone, makes them cold,
A cruel hand that bends and breaks,
Turning love to dust, leaving only ache.
The years, they carve their jagged lines,
And all around, the heart declines,
Memories fade, and trust erodes,
In the winds of time, everything corrodes.
But not mine, no, it’s different now,
The passing years have taught me how
To soften what once felt so strong,
To see the beauty where I went wrong.
For sentiment, once lost in the race,
Now blooms gently in my heart's embrace.
I see it all through a kinder lens,
And cherish moments I can call friends.
Where once was hardness, now is grace,
Time’s embrace has left its trace.
A heart that once was sharp, austere,
Is now a place where love can steer.
So though time still marches on its way,
In its wake, my heart will stay
Open, warm, with tender eyes,
Finally seeing how love never dies.
