Reaching Out
June 11, 2024New Beginning
A father lies waiting, his breath now thin,
His journey’s now end, where life begins.
His son stands alone, heart heavy, yet,
No words can cleanse their past regret.
Their lives entwined, yet worlds apart,
Misunderstood from the very start.
Father, neither of us could really see,
The world that may have a possibility,
In fields where shadows danced and played,
Our bond was lost, our trust betrayed.
The days we shared, mere echoes now,
Moments missed, and I know not how,
Life's fleeting course did steer us wide,
Two souls adrift on an endless tide.
In your eyes, a depth still unknown,
A heart that beat a tune still alone,
The son you raised with heart so strong,
Struggled to see where he belonged.
Years have passed in silent strife,
In search of peace, in search of life,
Yet there are no words in my head,
Just the weight of what is unsaid.
Rest Father, as you close your eyes,
To drift where endless sky meets sky,
Where dreams meet dusk in a gentle sweep,
In realms where souls find rest and sleep.
Go forth to realms where those await,
Who walked before, who faced their fate,
Your parents' arms, your wife's smile,
Await thee on this, the longest mile.
May the spirits of the past, draw near,
Guide him through that misty sphere,
To the hearth where ancient kin abide,
In love’s embrace, his soul will bide.
Farewell, dear father, journey well,
To where only peace and echoes dwell,
When you find this place so divine,
Save there a space for me in time.
For soon enough, my course will wane,
And I’ll traverse that shadowed plain,
Where misunderstandings fade away,
In light that dawns a brighter day.
Until then, rest in serene grace,
Amidst the stars, in endless space,
Though in this life, we could not bind,
In the next, may our souls align.
So journey on to that distant shore,
Where pain and sorrow are no more,
And know, my Father, as you depart,
A son has always held you in his heart.
Think not that this is the end,
a new beginning as you Transend.
