Remnants of Love

Prophets of Decadence
September 18, 2023Do Not Come For Me
Shadows dance as time slowly flees,
I feel the chill, the whispering breeze,
But Death, dear Death, do not come for me.
For still, my heart yearns to beat,
To taste life's sweetness, its bitter-sweet,
To wander through fields, where wildflowers bloom,
To bask in sun’s warmth, dispelling the gloom.
Death, oh Death, please understand,
There are chapters unwritten, dreams left unplanned,
The pages of life are far from complete,
In this mortal realm, there's still much to greet.
I seek the beauty of a lover's embrace,
The laughter of children, in an innocent chase,
The melodies that the birds sing at dawn,
The whispers of love, untouched and torn.
The world is ablaze with vibrant wonder,
A kaleidoscope of colors, alive like no other,
Each breath a symphony, each heartbeat a drum,
A myriad of stories, waiting to be sung.
So, Death, relent, just a little while more,
Let me dance on this earthly floor,
For life's moments, though fleeting they be,
Are the threads that weave a soul's tapestry.
Death, I know you'll come one day,
To claim me as yours, to carry me away,
But until then, let me revel and be,
For there's still a spark, a spirit in me.
By your gentle hand, it will so come to be,
But not now, not yet, for I long to be free,
So Death, dear Death, do not come for me.
