December 18, 2025Distance From the Flame
Verse
We meet where the echoes don’t argue anymore,
Coffee cooling, sunlight on a familiar floor.
Your laugh still knows the shortcuts through my day,
But it lands softer now, doesn’t ask me to stay.
We carry our history like a map with new lines,
Some roads closed for good, some rerouted with time.
Pre-Chorus
We learned the hard way what heat can claim,
How love can glow and still leave a stain.
So we step with care, name what remains—
A kinder kind of knowing, without the chains.
Chorus
We’re finding peace in the distance from the flame,
Close enough for warmth, far enough from pain.
No sparks to chase, no fire to tame,
Just steady light in the distance from the flame.
Hands unclenched, hearts re-framed,
We keep our promise in the distance from the flame.
Verse
You walk in mornings, I drift late at night,
Different compasses pointing toward the light.
You speak of futures I don’t need to share,
I tell old stories, you listen with care.
We toast to the good, we don’t edit the past,
We laugh at the moments that somehow still last.
Pre-Chorus
What burned us once taught us where to stand,
How to read the weather in the palm of a hand.
It’s not less love, it’s a wiser plan
A gentler truth we both understand.
Chorus
We’re finding peace in the distance from the flame,
Close enough for warmth, far enough from pain.
No sparks to chase, no fire to tame,
Just steady light in the distance from the flame.
Shoulders offered, not claimed,
We keep our promise in the distance from the flame.
Bridge
There’s joy in the photos we don’t have to hide,
And mercy in knowing which doors stay inside.
When the night leans heavy, and the world feels the same,
I know who to call, without calling the fire’s name.
Verse
You see the horizon; I watch the shore,
Same sky above us, different reasons for more.
We learned how to listen without trying to win,
How to let the air cool where the heat had been.
Chorus
We’re finding peace in the distance from the flame,
Close enough for warmth, far enough from pain.
No sparks to chase, no fire to tame,
Just steady light in the distance from the flame.
Care remains, but it’s tempered, contained -
We keep our promise in the distance from the flame.
Outro
If the past hums softly, we don’t look away,
We honor the glow, let the blaze fade to gray.
Still here for each other, unafraid to say-
Some love survives best with space to stay.
