Spotlight Shadows
November 1, 2024Banana Republic Split
Verse
Red tape and headlines, they tighten the noose,
Promises made, but there’s nothing to lose.
Leaders on stage with their tired disguise,
Preaching change while they’re feeding us lies.
Two sides of the same twisted coin,
Making deals while the people groan.
Chorus
My banana republic is better when split,
Two-party politics is never the trick,
Constant fighting over if it’s left or right,
Throughout the days and well into the nights,
All it does is make me sick.
Verse
Pundits bark loud, but they don’t make a sound,
Pointing fingers in at a circus in the round.
They shake hands in backrooms where no one sees,
Writing laws that bring us to our knees.
We’re locked in this game that we didn’t choose,
Where every option just makes us lose.
Chorus
My banana republic is better when split,
Two-party politics is never the trick,
Constant fighting over if it’s left or right,
Throughout the days and well into the nights,
All it does is make me sick.
Bridge
Is there no place for a voice of the land?
For the hands that built it, the lines in the sand?
Or are we doomed to this eternal grind,
Where hope is lost, and truth is blind?
Verse
We gather, we rise, with a fire inside,
A storm in the streets they can’t deny.
Voices unite for something real,
A force of change they can’t repeal.
In a world so divided, we make our stand,
To bring justice back to this broken land.
Chorus
My banana republic is better when split,
Two-party politics is never the trick,
Constant fighting over if it’s left or right,
Throughout the days and well into the nights,
All it does is make me sick.
Outro
So here’s to the fighters, the dreamers, the bold,
Those who see through the lies that we’re sold.
In a world gone mad with a rigged deck to play,
We’ll find our own way to a brand-new day.
