In the heart of the woods, where the tall trees stand tall,
Lived creatures so happy, both tiny and small.
There were foxes in dens and owls in the trees,
And bears that would hum with the soft summer breeze.
The rabbits would hop, and the squirrels would scurry,
But none of them ever were ever in a hurry.
The deer tiptoed gently on velvety hooves,
While raccoons told stories with mischievous moves.
A creek softly babbled, the frogs croaked along,
And the birds filled the air with a sweet morning song.
The bees buzzed about, and the butterflies danced,
While the chipmunks just chattered, in circles they pranced.
It was peaceful, so peaceful, from dawn until night,
Not a worry in sight, not a trouble or fright.
The creatures were merry, their hearts were all light,
Everything, everything was simply just right.
But one day it happened—a visitor came,
A two-legged creature, with a strange sort of name.
They called it a “human,” it stomped through the trees,
It rustled the bushes, and frightened the bees.
The owls stared down with wide, worried eyes,
The foxes peeked out, unsure of surprise.
The deer froze in place, as still as a stone,
And the rabbits all whispered, "We are not alone."
The human was loud, not like a soft breeze,
It didn’t tiptoe or walk with great ease.
It picked up the flowers, it snapped off the leaves,
It left muddy footprints, which no one believed.
But soon it grew quiet and paused for a while,
And saw all the creatures that lived with such style.
It marveled at foxes, at owls, and deer,
And noticed their beauty, so calm and so clear.
The human sat down, by the creek, by the trees,
And listened to the song of the soft summer breeze.
It learned to be still, to watch, and to see,
That this forest, this life, was perfect and free.
So the creatures of wood, and the human at last,
Lived in harmony, forgetting the past.
For in that great forest, under skies wide and blue,
There’s a place for us all, and a place for you too.
