The Common Ground

In these troubled times of political strife,
The divide between left and right is rife,
Each side convinced they hold the key,
To a better world for you and me.

But as they argue and they fight,
The middle ground is out of sight,
And all the while we're left to wonder,
Will this political chasm tear us asunder?

The left says they stand for social justice,
While the right espouses individualism and business,
Each side entrenched in their own belief,
Refusing to budge or even show relief.

But what they fail to understand,
Is that extremism on either hand,
Only leads to chaos and despair,
And the potential end of all that's fair.

For as they scream and shout and rant,
The rest of us are left to pant,
As our world is torn apart,
And our future becomes uncertain and dark.

We need a compromise, a middle way,
Where both sides have a say,
Where we work together for the common good,
And not just for our own neighborhood.

For in this world of strife and fear,
We need to stand together, hold each other near,
And strive to build a better world,
Where humanity's moral values are unfurled.

So let us put aside our pride,
And try to find a way to coincide,
For the future of our world is at stake,
And we cannot afford to make mistakes.
