Dark Veil

Happiness, a wisp in dawn's light,
Dancing on rays, ever so bright,
Yet slips through fingers, frail as mist,
A dream untouched, by shadows kissed.

It glows and gleams in fleeting flight,
Then sinks beneath the weight of night,
A fleeting bird on whispered wing,
A silent song, we yearn to sing.

But darkness cloaks the brightest day,
A grey embrace, no light can sway,
Like clouds that smother, veil the sun,
And leave the heart, hope's battle won.

In moments rare, we glimpse its grace,
Before it's lost without a trace,
A treasure sought, yet seldom found,
In this vast world, where sorrows drown.
