The Anthem of Now
December 11, 2023A Pigmy Named Fred
In a land not too far, where the grass is quite green,
Lived a Pigmy named Fred, unlike any you've seen.
With a stature so small, and a heart full of cheer,
He was banished away, for he seemed quite queer.
The Pigmy folk said, "Fred, you don't fit in here,
Your just so unusual, we're filled with great fear."
So off went our Fred, on a journey so grand,
To a bustling big city, where dreams could be planned.
In the city, he met folks with smiles so wide,
Who embraced his uniqueness, never trying to hide.
Fred marveled at buildings that touched the sky,
And tasted new foods that made his heart fly.
One day in the park, shooting hoops until noon,
Fred dribbled a basketball, not a hint of a moan.
He spun, he jumped, he danced with delight,
And his skills were so dazzling, they sparkled so bright.
Then along came a scout named Sandy, oh so keen,
With eyes wide and sparkly, as if she'd never seen.
"Fred, my dear friend, you're a star in the making,
just learn the rules, as there's no time for faking!"
So off went our Pigmy, with a leap and a bound,
Into a jersey so vibrant, with the number renowned.
Travelling from city to city, he played with great glee,
A seven-foot Pigmy, Fred was a spectacle to see!
In the NBA, Fred soared to great heights,
With his teammates and fans, sharing joyful nights.
No longer banished, no longer alone,
He found a new home where his spirit had grown.
So, remember the tale of a Pigmy named Fred,
Who triumphed with courage, and a heart so well-led.
No matter how different, you will never fall,
It's the love and acceptance that make us stand tall.
